New Backpacks

As they say, "Brothers gotta hug!"

We got Tommy his first backpack and lunchbox for preschool. (He thought the monkey backpack/leash was his first backpack, but this is the first real thing...) It just so happened that Joey was with us at the time of purchase. Before I knew it, they both had backpacks on their backs and lunchboxes in their hands...

So I did what any compassionate parent would do, and bought a backpack (with lunchbox) for both of them. They've both been wearing those backpacks straight for about three days.

What does Joey need a backpack for, you might ask? Nothing...we just got him one so he wouldn't feel bad about Tommy having one! Uh oh, I think we've just embarked on the slippery slope of sibling "fairness"!

What happened to Joey's ear?!?!

Poor Joey developed a Dumbo-like ear a few days before Grandma arrived. Fortunately he didn't fly away! We thought he might have a bizarre case of swimmer's ear, or have eaten an unknown allergen...as it turned out, he just received a nasty bugbite. The doctor's reaction: "Yeah....this looks really weird." Anyway, thank goodnesss it didn't stick!

P.S. This picture is pretty much at a straight angle--so you can get a good comparison between the sweet, normal Joey ear on his right and the Dumbo ear on his left.

Who's Naughtier?

As soon as Tommy saw me coming up the stairs, he swiftly said, "Sorry, Mom!"

It's a BOY!

We got a good laugh...

at the very end of our hour-long ultrasound

during which Jon, me, and maybe even the sonographer almost fell asleep

while our sweet little baby lay curled up in a tight little ball

...when FINALLY, the baby revealed the truth:

He's a BOY!!!

We are SO excited!

Boy, Girl, or Too Many Treats?

If you chose C (Too Many Treats), you're right!! But if you chose A or B, you might also be right!!!! Jon and I are expecting a new baby! And tomorrow on our eighth wedding anniversary, we'll find out if it's a boy or a girl! Tommy's sure he'll have a sister, but we'll be happy either way. Still, the suspense is on...So if you have a guess, take our poll on the left!

By the way, our due date is January 11th. And I'm sure I'll continue to eat too many treats between now and then, so I'll keep you posted on how my tummy (and the baby) grows!
