A Lovely Spring Morning with Joey

Wow!  Look at that snow!  I've been so proud of Joey too.  He's received the "Most Reverent Boy" award in primary a few different times over the past several months (astounding, I know!).  At his preschool parent-teacher conference, he was described as a "joy" to have in class--obedient, participating, kind (again, wow!).  At home, he still enjoys helping with vacuuming, dishes, cleaning mirrors, baking, etc.  And on top of all that, he's seems very bright and is already learning to read.  

I feel very blessed to have such healthy, gifted children.  

Our little Gerber Baby

Nathan is such a doll.  I couldn't ask for a "better" baby...happy, healthy, the best sleeper I've experienced so far, and super, super cute!  He turned six months on April 4th and got his first tooth about two weeks later (right on schedule).  He loves baby food, goes crazy for a drink of water from a cup, and likes to taste everything that comes within his reach.  He's very ticklish, even sometimes bursting into laughter as I change his clothes or unfasten his diaper.  He adores his brothers, and even if he's crying for hunger or fatigue, their smiling faces can cheer him up.  He loves his binky, fingers, fist, and thumb, and he's very content!  He's extremely easy to soothe...usually he doesn't even cry unless he's very tired or hungry, or we reach the evening bewitching hour when, as long as you're holding him and he has his binky, he's perfectly calm.  At six months, he weighs 19.5 pounds, is in the 85th percentile on height, weight, and head circumference, and was described by his doctor as a perfect little Gerber Baby.

Did I mention he's the spitting image of his older brothers?

Mr. Teapot

I have been so proud of Tommy lately!

First, there was his class play last week.  The play was entirely in Spanish, and for a few weeks, Tommy was a little lost in translation, thinking he was playing the part of a blender.  I wasn't going to break the news to him that he was actually "Mr. Teapot," and that his line (in response to Mary who was looking for her little lamb) meant "No, I've been serving cups of tea all day; I haven't seen your little lamb."  But the truth came out when he saw his homemade costume.   

Anyway, he played the role PERFECTLY, especially the very cute teapot dance he did in front of everyone.

Then, on Sunday, he came home from church with a specific scripture reference he'd learned about in primary (John 14:16-17).  He wanted to look it up for our family scripture study that night.  He remembered the reference and even what it was about (that we can pray to Heavenly Father when we need help.)  He read it to our whole family.  Tommy is a great reader...in two languages!

I was also proud today when we had about 4 inches of snow (in April!), and Tommy shoveled Jon's side of the driveway.  I didn't even ask him to do it, and he did a really good job.  When I thanked him, he said he was just doing Jon's side because "Daddy's car doesn't have those brakes that work well on snow (anti-lock brakes)."  Tommy's awesome.

I was also pondering last night on the fact that Tommy gets along very well with each of his brothers, which is a huge help in a chaotic house like ours.  Thank you, Tommy, for being such a great kid.
